Mannargudi
is in the Tanjore
district. The place
is famous for its
Vishnu temple.
 The
temple was first
built by the Chola
kings and later
renovated by the
Nayak kings. Sri
Rajagopalswami is
the processional
deity and is a very
handsome image of
Lord Vishnu. There
are a lot of legends
associated with
the temple, one
being that Brahma
installed a swyaambhu
vimanam with Vasudevan
here. It is said
that when Agni lost
his luster, he worshipped
the lord here and
got back the powers.
There are a lot
of smaller shrines
dedicated to other
gods as well. Many
festivals take place
throughout the year.
The place is known
by many names like,
Senbaragyam, Vasudevapuri,
and Dakshina Dwaraka
and so on. The temple
is quite rich in
that, it has got
several paddy fields
and other buildings.
The place is accessible
from Tanjore. There
are buses and trains
connecting this
